Looking for the best AI writing software? I recently tried out six of the best tools to see which ones are really worth it.
AI writing software can totally enhance the content creation process.
In fact, many of these tools can research, structure, and write entire blog posts for you.
The question is, how good are the results?
Let's find out.
Spoiler alert: none of these tools will be able to fully replace a human writer. Although, a few can come very close. One in particular that I've yet to. add to the list here is Content At Scale. We've just thoroughly tested this tool and it is extraordinary. It's the first AI writing software I've used that creates long-form blog content that is on-par with a human writer. Check it out here.
Best AI Writing Tools
When it comes to the best AI content software, Jarvis has got to be at the top of the list.
Jarvis is one of the most popular AI writing assistants. It can perform all kinds of written tasks for you, making writing content a much easier process. Jarvis has a couple of different options available, but Boss Mode is the one we’re interested in. This is the AI writer that allows you to write long-form content.
With Jarvis Boss Mode, you can just create a new document, add your topic, and let the software write an entire blog post for you at the click of a button. Well, that’s the idea in theory. Of course, you can’t really publish that blog post without adding some of your own input first.
For an AI writing tool, Jarvis produces excellent quality. Even the best AI content software can’t replace a human writer, but Jarvis comes pretty close.
Jarvis allows you to choose your tone of voice which it manages to execute very well. This tool creates content that reads very naturally, just like a human had written it. It also manages to include accurate information in all of the content it writes.
You will still need a human to rephrase some of the content, add to sections, and correct a few minor mistakes. However, the majority of Jarvis’s content is high-quality and publishable.
What Can Jarvis Do?
Jarvis has loads of content templates and copywriting options available. You can use the Boss Mode editor to write long-form content, and command it to write exactly how you want.
The platform can write ad copy, social media content, marketing and sales copy, web copy, and pretty much anything else you can think of. You can also regenerate and rewrite the content as many times as you want.
With a SurferSEO and Copyscape integration, Jarvis also ensures its content is original and optimised for SEO.
- High-quality AI content writer
- Very easy to use
- Has a huge variety of writing options available
- Writes like a human
- The most expensive content writing software
- It’s still not good enough to fully eliminate human writers
Frase is a tool designed to help content writers optimise the way they research and create content. It’s full of great features for structuring SEO-friendly content, and it includes a very handy AI writing assistant.
You can create documents in Frase, use the platform to perfectly structure your article with a few clicks, and then hit “write for me”. Frase will then generate original, search engine-friendly content for you.
Frase produces excellent content. Nothing is perfect, and you will have to rewrite sections, expand on ideas, and change the style to match your tone of writing. Most of the time though, Frase produces great results.
Frase also generates three different options with each section it writes, so you’ve always got choices if you aren’t happy with the content.
Sometimes the software will write inaccurate information or include random phrases that don’t make sense. However, the bulk of what Frase writes is on-point and sounds natural. Frase is designed as a tool to assist the writing process, come up with ideas, and structure content. It’s not meant for creating entire blog posts from scratch.
What Can Frase Do?
Frase helps writers dive into topics, create briefs, structure articles, and generate content.
It can tell you exactly what questions people are asking based on your keyword. It pulls together the top search results to help you structure blog posts and create SEO-optimized content.
Frase’s AI writing tool can also generate long-form content for you, with the potential to generate entire blog posts with a few clicks.
- A great tool for creating SEO-optimized content
- The AI writer generates quality content that reads naturally
- Very easy to use
- Can save writers hours on researching and structuring content
- Only suitable for writing blog posts/long-form articles
- The AI generator can’t write good blog introductions and conclusions
- The AI content will likely contain a few minor errors
Rytr offers simple, affordable, and effective AI writing software. It may not have as many advanced features as Jarvis, but it can still generate all kinds of content for you.
And for AI writing software that you can use for free (with a limitation), that’s really impressive.
You access Rytr through an online portal where you can create new documents and get the software to write wherever you want. This includes anything from blog posts to sales copy, website copy, marketing content, and more.
Rytr is one of the best when it comes to quality. This tool produces accurate and relevant information for whatever you need to write, and it generates this in a relatively human way.
You can choose your tone of voice, generate introductions, conclusions, and paraphrase the content. Overall, the quality Rytr generates is excellent.
The downside is that Rytr tends to only “write” very short passages, so you will probably need to expand on every point and only use Rytr to get you started. And like any AI content software, you will still need a human to go over and edit the content.
What Can Rytr Do?
Rytr can automatically generate just about any copywriting needs you have. This AI writing assistant has many different templates, including things like email writing, ad writing, email writing, and blog writing tools.
You just need to input your topic/keyword and tone of voice, and Rytr can do most of the work for you at the click of a button.
- Rytr has an excellent free version available
- The paid versions are great value for money
- Very easy to use
- Wide range of writing functions is available
- The writing quality still needs some work
Copysmith offers some of the best AI content software in terms of its different functions. This tool is a bit more complicated than the other options on this list, but it certainly doesn’t lack features. Whatever writing tasks you have, Copysmith will be able to do them for you.
Copysmith does require a fair amount of human input though. The content isn’t perfect, and the overall experience isn’t as seamless as tools like Jarvis or Frase.
Copysmith produces solid content. You’re not going to win any writing awards with it, and it's not a good enough writer to truly blow away your audience. However, as an AI-powered tool, it can generate some fantastic results.
Copysmith generated content around accurate information. It’s able to write similar to a human, although there are moments when you can tell it was written by a robot. One thing I was very impressed by was Copysmith’s ability to mimic my usual tone of voice and writing style.
The content you generate with Copysmith will definitely need a bit of polishing up. Once it's been properly edited though, you will have an excellent blog post.
What Can Copysmith Do?
Copysmith is a versatile copywriting tool. In my Copysmith review, I used it to structure and write a blog post. The tool has many more copywriting functions though, such as being able to write ads or web copy.
Copysmith is designed to assist the writing process and make it way easier to create quality content. From researching to structuring and writing, Copysmith will optimize each step of the content writing journey.
- Includes a wide range of writing tools
- Produces good quality content
- Good value for money
- Includes a basic keyword tool and plagiarism integration
- Copysmith gets your tone of voice accurate
- Can be quite confusing to use
- The affordable plan has limited credits
- Requires a fair amount of human editing
CopyAI is one of the most versatile writing tools out there. It’s definitely one of the best AI content software options based on its wide range of functions, its intuitive design, and ability to write some pretty good content. It’s also got a free version which is a major bonus.
Unfortunately, CopyAI just doesn’t produce the same high standard of content that a tool like Jarvis does. It’s good, and it is certainly a helpful writing assistant.
However, if you’re looking for an AI-powered writing tool to write entire blog posts for you, then this might not be your first choice.
CopyAI should be used as a tool to initiate the writing process, paraphrase content, and help you find new writing ideas. It’s an excellent assistant in this way, but it's not quite suitable for taking on the main writing responsibilities.
CopyAI’s content is good. Most of what it generates is accurate, and it's written in a way that flows well and is easy to digest. The software’s only downfall is that the content just feels more robotic than the other tools on this list.
That being said, CopyAI is still a quality tool. It won’t replace human writers, but it could become a writer's favorite friend.
What Can CopyAI Do?
CopyAI has a huge range of functions. In short, it's a copywriting tool, but it's one of the most versatile copywriting tools out there.
You can use it to structure and write any kind of copy you need. There are many different tools and templates to work from, each one specialized for a different writing task.
CopyAI’s long-form writer also produces various options with each use. This gives you a wide field of content to choose from.
- A very wide range of writing tools available
- Good value
- Free version available
- Very easy to use
- Writing quality could be improved
- Not the best AI writer for SEO
You probably already use Grammarly to check your spelling and grammar. This is one of the most widely-used tools out there. Beyond the free spellchecker, Grammarly also offers some of the best AI content software.
Grammarly isn’t a long-form AI writer like the other tools on this list. You can’t use it to generate blog posts and ad copy for you. It is an incredible AI writing assistant, and its premium version will help any writer vastly improve the quality of their work.
You have to write the content first, then Grammarly will improve it. The tool does a fantastic job of this.
Grammarly looks at your spelling and grammar first, but it also considers how powerful your word choice is, how easy your sentences are to read, how well your writing flows, and how confident it sounds. The tool takes many important elements into consideration to help you optimize your content.
If you’re not an experienced writer, Grammarly will vastly improve the quality of what you produce. It's the gold standard for writing quality on the internet.

- Extremely easy to use
- There is an excellent free version available
- Improves writing in many different ways
- Not a long-form AI writing tool
- It needs to be used with a human writer
Final thoughts on AI writing software
While there are some awesome AI writing tools out there, the important thing to remember is that these are all writing assistants.
They can optimise the writing process in a massive way, and help you write far better content.
But they still can’t function completely independently, and you won’t be able to use them to escape a real writer and editor.
