Sales Development Representative (SDR)
We're looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) who has the drive and passion to develop a career in sales. Sales as a career is often given a bad stigma - cold calling, high rejection rates, ruthless pursuit of closing a sale etc.
However, the internet age has seen a very different selling ethos emerge. What we like to call Smart Selling. By combining data science, marketing, sales and growth hacking savvy companies are able to sell more effectively, efficiently and with better sales ethics. This is how we run our sales function at Contentellect, and it all starts with rockstar SDR’s.
So, what are the key attributes we are looking for in an SDR:
- First and foremost, a hunger to succeed
- Thrives on working in a target-driven environment
- Excellent organisational skills
- Proficient in using tech automation tools
- An independent thinker, who is constantly looking for new and improved ways of approaching a problem
- Strong written and verbal skills

What the role involves?
Building a prospecting database using lead sources that have been predetermined by Contentellect. As you build the database you’ll be emailing these prospects using email automation software. From there you will manage the conversations with interested prospects (warm leads) with the ultimate goal being to set up meetings/calls for Contentellect's sales team.
To be eligible for the role, candidates must have a university degree. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a degree in the business or marketing fields. As this is a junior sales role we are looking for candidates who open to learning and developing a sales career.

What is an SDR?
The SDR role is a relatively new one, having gained salience in the tech industry over the last decade. By bifurcating the sales function, many tech companies have reported huge gains in sales revenue. Unlike a quota-carrying salesperson, who’s remit includes closing sales, the core focus of the SDR is on moving leads through the pipeline. They work off lead lists and email/call prospects in order to qualify these leads which in turn enriches the sales pipeline. With the sales team being freed from doing prospecting they are now able to spend more time selling to qualified (warm) leads.
- 4-5 hours a day prospecting
- 3-4 hours a day doing email and LinkedIn outreach
- Targeted to book 5 meetings week
- R5K base salary
- R500 per meeting booked
