Detailed Copymatic Review – How Good is This AI Writer?

by Tom Kotze

There are seemingly endless AI writing tools that exist today, with new ones popping up all the time. Copymatic is a popular platform that has generated much positive attention.

But, how good is this tool for creating copy?

One of the platform’s biggest selling points is that it promises to deliver SEO-friendly blog posts in a few clicks. Let’s test it out first-hand to see if the tool could replace a human writer.

In this Copymatic review, I’ll walk you through my experience of using the software and will discuss the results of my efforts.

What Is Copymatic?

Copymatic is an AI-powered writing tool, designed to create long-form content.

Copymatic includes a range of different writing tools, depending on what you are looking to create. This includes AI tools for blog posts, hero sections, social media ads, and more.

This platform also offers a handy Chrome extension, a rewriter tool, and a grammar checker. You can also adjust the platform’s writing settings, allowing you to control elements like creativity or the tone of voice.

Overall Copymatic Review

I give Copymatic 2.5 out of 5 stars.

  • Very easy to use
  • Includes a wide range of copywriting tools
  • Creates good outlines and topics for your content
  • Includes a free version

  • The content still has a very strong AI feel to it
  • Does not include keyword research tools
  • The platform doesn’t do much more than what you can get from a free generative AI tool

Overall, Copymatic was slightly underwhelming.

Yes, it does exactly what it promises to; is incredibly easy to use, and you can generate quality content with the right prompts. However, Copymatic still delivers standard AI-written content – something that you could generate from an entirely free tool.

If you access the added managed SEO services, then you might be onto something great. Give this tool to a skilled SEO writer, and they could certainly craft some winning content with it. But, as a standalone copywriting tool, you can’t rely on Copymatic to replace a real human writer.

My Copymatic Experience

Copymatic seems like a solid tool from face value. But, is it just another generative AI platform, or does it really have what it takes to replace human writers?

Let’s put it to the test!

Signing Up

I always love a platform that offers a free trial – and Copymatic delivers on this front. This makes it a lot easier to test the software and see if it’s worth the investment before committing.

To get started, simply hit the “Start free trial” button in the top right corner and log in using your email address or Google profile.

Once you’re in, Copymatic will ask a few basic questions about how you want to use the software. This includes a question on whether you want SEO help – which means you can access the platform’s partnership with The Hoth

I declined, but access to managed SEO services is a useful feature that other AI writing tools don’t offer.

Now you’re all signed up and can continue to your user dashboard. This is where you can access a wide variety of copywriting tools.

Once your free trial has expired, you have a choice between three different pricing plans:

  • Pro: $29 per month
  • Team: $49 per month
  • Enterprise: $99 per month

The pricing plan depends on the number of users. Each plan allows you to generate the same number of words, and each plan includes all the same features. So, you only pay extra for seats.

Copymatic’s pricing is quite reasonable, especially considering most businesses could get away with using the Pro plan, as it doesn’t lack any features or have any word limits.

You also get a discount if you opt for a yearly pricing plan, making the platform even more affordable.

Using Copymatic

Now that we’re set up, let’s put Copymatic to the test.

On your dashboard, you can access a wide range of writing tools. Let’s start with the article generator, which promises to turn a title into a fully optimized SEO-friendly article.

All you do is fill in a few basic bits of information, like your article title, focus keyword, and language preference.

It’s worth noting that Copymatic does not include any kind of keyword or SEO research tool, so you’ll have to perform independent SEO research before generating content.

Then you need to add an article outline. You can use AI to generate this for you, which I did.

I found the outline to be very comprehensive.

Next, you need to hit the big “Write article” button, and the tool will generate your content in a few seconds.

Copymatic Review

Instantly I was hit with a problem – the platform said I had insufficient credits to generate more content, so it couldn’t complete the article.

Fair enough, it’s a comprehensive article and I’m on a free plan. But, it’s still annoying.

There’s a handy side panel on the right that displays information about your content. If you’ve ever used Surfer for optimizing content, then this panel might look familiar.

It gives your content an SEO score based on your keyword. You can dive into the content analysis for more information and use the plagiarism checker to see how original your AI-generated content is. All very useful.

On the left side of the screen is a suggested pictures section.

Copymatic Review

In theory, this would be incredibly useful, but the strange and low-quality AI-generated images suggested do not fit the content at all.

That’s Copymatic in a nutshell, straightforward to use. You can edit your content in the dashboard, and then choose to send it directly to WordPress.

You can also go back to your dashboard and choose from additional tools. Overall, Copymatic offers 82 different tools, including an image generator, a content rewriter, a product description tool, and writing tools for various sections of website copy.

You can also write meta titles and descriptions, ad copy, video scripts, press releases, and any other copywriting task you could think of. However, the long-form blog writer is the platform’s main feature.

The Results

So, how good was the content?

Not amazing, not terrible, just standard AI content.

In my experience, a clear telltale sign of AI-generated content is when the intro starts with the phrase “In today’s digital age…”. After reviewing countless AI writing platforms, this is the most standard, commonly used introduction sentence and a clear indicator of AI writing.

Another classic feature of AI writing is using very long sentences. Copymatic generated entire paragraphs in a single sentence – something that doesn’t add to a great reading experience.

The paragraphs were also long, the language generic, and the content certainly lacked the kind of insights or personality that you would get from a real human writer.

However, on the positive side, the content was particularly comprehensive and covered a lot of relevant, valuable information. If you take the information and outline generated, and edit this with a talented human writer, then you could be onto some excellent SEO content.

So, overall, Copymatic was good, but not particularly impressive. It’s still very much an AI writing tool, and I have definite doubts about how well you’d be able to rank this content against strong competitors.
