Rytr Review – Is The AI Writer From Rytr Any Good?

by Tom Kotze

Rytr is one of the most popular AI writing tools, so I tried it out to see just how good it really is.

This Rytr review will follow my first-hand experience of signing up and creating a blog post. I’ll cover how good the quality of the content is, and whether Rytr is worth it.

If you’re considering using Rytr for content creation, this Rytr review will cover everything you need to find out.

What is Rytr?

Rytr is an AI writing tool that can generate many different types of content. The tool can be used for website copywriting, creating marketing and sales copy, writing full blog posts, and just about any other writing job you can think of. This is all done through a simple online portal.

Overall Rytr Review

I give Rytr 4 out of 5 stars.

Pros

  • Very easy to use
  • Free version available
  • Great value for money
  • Produces a wide range of content
  • You can choose the tone of voice

Cons

  • The writing quality needs a bit of work
  • Lacks some advanced features that Jarvis offers

Conclusion

I can see why Rytr is one of the most popular AI writing tools. It’s really easy to use, it offers superb value for money, and the content it produces is really awesome. I won’t use Rytr to fully replace a human writer, and the content it generates does need a bit of work. Overall, an excellent tool to help content writers with many different functions.

My Rytr Experience

Rytr is a seriously popular AI writing tool with a great reputation. I thought I’d try it out first-hand to see how good it really is.

In this Rytr review, I’ll cover my entire experience - from signing up to reviewing the quality of the content.

Signing Up

It takes about two minutes to sign up and get started with Rytr. All you need to do is go to their website, and click “Start Ryting”.

You’ll fill out your email address, name, password, and that’s it - you can get started on the free plan. Once your profile is in place, you just choose to “Start Ryting”, and a new doc will appear.

It couldn’t get easier.

Pricing

Rytr offers excellent value. There are two plans that you can choose between: a free plan, and a paid plan at $29/month.

Other AI writer tools, like Frase and Jarvis, do not have free plans. This is a really great addition to try out the software first and see if it’s worth paying for.

And the best thing is the free plan offers all of the features and functions that you get in the paid version. The only difference is that the free version is limited to generating 5000 characters per month, while the paid version can generate unlimited characters.

For only $29 per month, you also get a dedicated account manager, priority support, and access to the Premium community. Compared to expensive platforms like Jarvis, this is really great value.

If you plan on using Rytr to create long-form content then you will definitely need to use the premium version. 5000 characters a month doesn’t go very far.

Using Rytr

A common theme in all of the Rytr reviews I read was how easy the platform is to use. This is completely true.

Rytr has a similar interface to Google Docs. You just start a new document and then choose what AI functions you want to apply. These are all available in the menu on the left.

The options range from blog content to copywriting tools, social media content, email marketing content, and plenty more. I started by using the blog post idea and outline generator.

rytr ai writing software

To get started with a blog post, you just type in your primary keyword, your language preference, and your writing tone. There is a long list of different tones to choose between.

Then you can also select how many variants you want. You can get up to three options.

Hit “Ryte” and your blog outline will be generated.

This is part of what I got for the topic “what is content marketing?”:

The entire outline was good. It included relevant sections and flowed well. If I follow this outline, I’d get a really solid blog post.

I would add a few additional sections to this article as it’s a pretty big topic. Luckily, you can easily do this by adding them to the document.

One very cool feature of Rytr is that the tool includes relevant keywords for each section that it outlines for you. This helps with SEO, and it gives you more ideas for what to cover in your content.

Now that the outline is ready, you can get each section filled out. All you need to do is highlight the section you want to be written, and click “Paragraph”. The AI writer then fills this out for you.

This is what I got for the heading “What is the Definition of Content Marketing?”:

my rytr review

Pretty good. I can tell straight away that I’ll need to jump in and do some editing myself. While everything makes sense and it's quite well written, it sounds stiff and as though it was written by a robot (well, it was).

For example, the heading can change to a simple “What is Content Marketing?” or “Content Marketing Definition” which will make a lot more sense.

However, the information there is solid. I’d say this is a great starting point for my blog post.

I tried to fill out a few more sections. This is what I got for one:

rytr sample

Again, good but not mind-blowing. For an AI tool, the writing definitely flows well. The information is there and it hits the right topics. I’d just like to see a bit more.

That’s the basic way of using Rytr. You can apply this to different copywriting styles, and tones.

One thing I would have liked to see was a blog intro and conclusion writer. Just like with Frase, you will have to write these yourselves. The tool can write meta titles and meta descriptions for you though.

This is what it generated for a meta title:

And a meta description:

I like these. Clearly, Rytr is a very versatile tool for content writing in its many different forms.

Content Quality

Rytr is really easy to use and has a long list of content writing functions available. But how good is the quality that Rytr generates?

I was impressed by what Rytr can do. This AI writer gathered up all of the correct information and managed to type this out into an easily digestible format.

The first thing I’ll comment on is that the way the article was written was a bit stiff. This could be because I chose the “informative” tone of voice. I would definitely need to make a few adjustments to help each section flow a bit better and sound a bit more human.

The second thing is I would have liked to have seen Rytr dive a bit deeper into each section. The tool provided an excellent starting off point, but I would need to expand on each section for the blog post to get up to standard.

Other than that, the content quality was high up there. With a bit of work, you can create a very impressive blog post with Rytr.

Would I Publish This Article?

I wouldn’t publish what Rytr generated word-for-word, but I would certainly publish the bulk of it.

Rytr, like any AI writing tool, is incredibly helpful for creating blog post outlines, generating ideas, paraphrasing content, and putting an end to writer's block. However, it isn’t going to completely replace a human writer.

Rytr is an excellent tool to help you create content and assist the writing process, but I wouldn’t rely on it to produce an entire blog post. That being said, I would still be happy to publish most of what it wrote.

What Errors Did I Find?

Nothing. All of the information was correct, and no grammar or spelling issues were present. Rytr uses its own integrated spell-checking tools to make sure the content is error-free. I would still recommend running it through Grammarly before publishing though.

What About SEO?

Like I mentioned earlier, Rytr focuses on keywords, and pulls the most relevant keywords from search results based on the different sections in your blog post. This all comes from the main keyword your post is generated around.

This means each section is optimized for search engines, making your Rytr content very SEO-friendly. For best results, you can still run this content through a tool like Surfer SEO (see our review of Surfer SEO).
